DETAILS
• SwapMistress - Ellen -
ellen@riverswood.com
(Please contact me for details or questions on these swaps, or
to participate).
• What is a ‘multi-scale’ swap? - (Typical
scales - 1", and ½"). I guess my idea is to make whatever
works for you and maybe stretch your 'creative muscles' to make the item
even smaller or in different sizes. You can send items in several sizes
if you like and if you have a particular size that you would like to receive
in your swap I'll do my best to see that you receive as close to that scale
as possible.
• DON'T STRESS Scale too much... - if the
plate of food looks 'right', it will probably fit in either scale... plates/platters
the size of coins are smaller should work for most everyone.
• I would want to make a list of what everyone is
making so we don't get too many duplicates (14 bowls of peas, etc.).
DEADLINES
• SIGN UP DATE - As above for each swap -
Notify me by email with the following information
1 - which swap/swaps you would
like to participate in
2 - what dish you are preparing
(consult the list for items already selected so we don’t duplicate)
3 - what scale items you would
like to receive in return (although there are no guarantees on this, I
will do my best to honor all scale requests)
4 - if there are 'extra' swap items left
over - tell me what you would like done with them (used for the MSAT Newbie/Donations
boxes or someother use or returned to you with your swap items)
• # OF SWAPPERS - I will post the final number
of swappers on the date after the signup date and will also email you
all to confirm the number of swappers.
• MAIL OUT - Mail out your package no later
than 9/30/02 for Sweets and 11/6/02 for the Thanksgiving Feast so that
I can receive the packages and get them sorted and sent back out to everyone’s
hot little hands as soon as possible. NOTE: I will not wait
for swaps to be received more than 10 days after the mailout date unless
I hear from you and there are extenuating circumstances. I will sort
the items I have and send them out to the people who participated.
International participants, please try to be early if at all possible to
ensure timely delivery.
*Place each item in an individual baggie with your name,
and email address, (personal bio, technique description, snailmail address,
etc. optional) so the other swappers will know who to thank for the individual
items.
*Pack your items in polymer friendly wrap (bubble wrap, peanuts,
etc.) in a box marked "fragile" with your name and return address clearly
marked.
*Put the items into a reusable package (priority mail box
will do) or enclose a box for return items (If you have special instructions
for packing or return to you, send them to me as well), along with $3.85
(1 pound priority) or whatever it costs to get your package to me - International
participants should send me what your package costs for me to send it back
to you or a priority mail stamp
*Send a self addressed label for return.
*Please email me when you put your items in the mail and
I will be watching for them. I will email you in return when I get your box
and then again when I am sending everyone’s swap boxes back out.
RULES
HAVE FUN - Our main focus for these
swaps will be to have fun, so don’t stress about this.
SWAPPING - The plan is...
- For each of us to make enough items to give one to
everyone else in the swap (example: 20 swappers, you send me 19 items ..
and I return 19 different items to you)
- Try your very best not to be late on this swap (that
will make everyone have to wait for you to get your items in so that I
can send them all out). If something comes up, let me know as soon as possible
when you will be able to get me your swap items.
OPTIONS (make what you want to make) ...
- select an item from the category that has not already
been selected by someone on the list
- make the items in 1", ½" or 1/4" scale whichever
you prefer, but some people ave preferences on what they will receive,
do your best to take your fellow swappers into account and experiment a
bit on making the same thing bigger or smaller
- NOTE TO FIRST TIME SWAPPERS - Don’t worry that
your items won’t be ‘‘good enough’’, do your best and send them out. There
are swappers of all levels and this will give you the opportunity to see
some really fun stuff in return for your effort. Your contribution will
not be graded or compared to anyone else’s, we will enjoy all the food
in each swap.
