Highlights of Japan Tour (Diamond Princess) 8/24/2017 – Day 1, Part 2

August wasn’t the optimal time to visit Japan, Kyoto was quite hot and humid.  All of us on the tour were sweating big time, but we took care to stay hydrated.  Overall it worked.

Our first stop of the afternoon was Heian Shrine (your browser should have a pop-up that will translate from Japanese to English).

Heian Shrine – Kyoto

Yes – those are sake barrels that have been brought to the Shrine to be blessed.  No, Husband would not let me bring home my own large sake barrel.

The gardens and water features were magnificent.

Then our tour moved to the Kinkakuji Temple (Golden Pavilion), again the architecture and details were amazing.

While we were touring, we saw many young Japanese women, and even a few men dressed in traditional clothing.  There are rental shops where you can rent clothing for the day.

In all of the Japanese gardens we visited, many of the Koi were huge (24-30″).  It was amazing.

Thanks for letting me share.

Hugs and I’ll share more soon.
