My Dream Vacation – Japan, 2017

Good Morning,

As you may, or may not know, Husband & I just got back from an amazing trip to Japan.  For many reasons, this has always been the place that I’ve always wanted to visit.  In fact, this has always been my “dream destination”.  So from August 22 through September 5, 2017, we flew to Japan and did a tour/cruise via Princess Cruises.  Over the next couple of weeks, I’ll be filling you in on what we did, where we went, and sharing pictures for your viewing pleasure.  We had an awesome time and I want to share it with you.

We flew from Austin, Texas to Osaka, Japan on August 22, 2017.  Our stops included DFW, and LAX, before our arrival in Osaka.  At LAX, we were upgraded to Business Class which was truly wonderful and actually allowed me to get a few hours of sleep prior to our landing to help alleviate some of the jet lag.  I typically don’t sleep on planes, but Husband has traveled enough that he basically helped me land in Japan feeling pretty decent, so “Yeah!”

First on the agenda, was my quest to find some of the amazing and unusual forms of KitKat.  Yes, the traditional Nestle KitKat candy is a phenomenon in Japan with dozens of unique flavors.  Over the next 2 weeks, during our visits to temples, castles, shrines, souvenir shops, convenience stores (including 7-11 and Circle K), etc., we found several fun and unusual packages of KitKat.

Here are most of them.

Kit Kat 1

Matcha Green Tea and Citrus.  The Green Tea is a little odd, even though I like Green Tea, but the Citrus was good.

Kit Kat 2

Then came, Cranberry & Almond, Strawberry Cheesecake, Wasabi, and Rum Raisin.  These were all fun, different, and the Wasabi was a little odd, but you could taste the very mild “Wasabi” flavor.

KitKat 3

Then came, Sake (interesting), Strawberry (very nice), Sakura Matcha (Cherry Green Tea… lovely), and Grape (lovely purple color and grape flavor).

These were all the flavors of KitKat we could find, but it was a fun and tasty experience.

I’m sorting through the pics from the trip and over the next week or so will be posting our favorites and filling you in on some of our best experiences in Japan.

Hugs and thanks for letting me share.

Ellen
