*We’re Carting!

  • Posted on May 28, 2009 at 8:31 am

Recently I went ahead and ordered a dog cart from DogWorks. They have a great selection of carts, wagons, harnesses, etc. Husband had planned on building a cart, but with his business travel and working outside in the yard we hadn’t gotten around to that, so a good basic ‘starter’ cart seemed like a good idea. I know he will expand on the wagon as he sees fit or build a totally new one when he has time.

We had previously gotten a couple of harnesses from Black Ice Dog Sledding. They are wonderful also.

The cart came yesterday so husband put it together and of course wanted to try it out immediately. Bucca had previously had his turn at carting and we decided to give the girls a short go. Here are some pics from the brief outing late yesterday.

Rebel wanted to go, go, go. She didn’t want to turn, she didn’t want to stop or slow down, but if we had wanted to keep going she was game. It was so cute.

We’d been a bit concerned about Corena and thought maybe she wouldn’t be really interested. She’s a bit shy and tentative with most things.

Husband (she adores him) put her in harness and attached the shafts and she seemed like a totally different dog. She just glowed.

She followed his directions beautifully, at least for a first try. We were so proud of her.

We have lots to work on, but it is going to be a pleasure working with all the dogs on training, etc. Long term we will want to try the draft test with whoever seems to do the best and enjoys it the most.

To be honest, we probably went about it wrong because we had not worked up to carting with either of the girls, but they were just awesome. We look forward to lots of carting practice and lots of learning. Stay tuned for the results.

*Mini Chest Display

A very talented miniaturist, Debbie M., send me some pictures recently of some of her work on her Harry Potter house. She used one of my mini box kits and made it up as a display piece on the mantle, and my Aztec calender above it. She has graciously allowed me to use her pictures here. I think she did a great job! Thanks Debbie…

*Quick Update

  • Posted on May 22, 2009 at 7:15 am

I haven’t posted anything the last week. I’ve had a headache on and off most of the week (hopefully just spring sinus). But it’s been kind of annoying.

Anyway, I’ll be back posting some new pics, pages and blogs really soon, so don’t worry.

Stay well all and have a great weekend.

Hugs.. Ellen
